Plastic Surgery

Nasal aesthetics, also known as nasoplasty and rhinoplasty, is one of the most commonly performed aesthetic operations. It is performed to get rid of congenital deformities in the nose, which may occur after birth or have occurred due to traumas. The deformity should be corrected in some cases only because it is visually disturbing, but it should be corrected because it causes problems such as breathing disorder in most people. Regardless of the reasons for aesthetic operation, the primary goal in nasal aesthetics is to make the respiratory tract in the nose work at the end of the operation. One or more of the operations of reshaping the nose, removing deformations or reshaping a portion of the nose are performed during the operation. For patients considering rhinoplasty application, it is essential that the nasal tissues are suitable for aesthetic operation during the examination to be performed by the surgeon. Nasal aesthetic surgery should be performed by a surgeon who is expert in the field, since the slightest intervention has very significant results. Nose aesthetics, which can be applied in both men and women, is a complicated operation. Achieving the expected result exactly requires a period of 6 to 12 months. This process varies according to the size of the operation in the nose, the structure of the tissues in the nose or the severity of the problem.

Tipplasty

One of the most affecting parts of the nose is the shape of the tip of the nose. Commonly seen deformities at the tip of the nose are:

  • Nose tip is wider than it should be
  • The nostrils are not symmetrical with each other
  • Nose tip is low
  • Nose tip stiffness
  • Pointed nose tip

For patients with the aforementioned problems, nose tip aesthetic operations, which is a sub-branch of nasal aesthetics, are performed. In these operations, the bone part of the nose is not touched, only the soft tissue and cartilage located at the tip of the nose are processed. Therefore, surgery is easier than rhinoplasty. Pre- and post-operative procedures are almost identical to those of other nasal esthetic surgeries. The operation time is shorter and all procedures are completed within a period of 30-60 minutes and the recovery time is shorter than rhinoplasty operations.

Why Nose Aesthetic?

The first reason for nasal aesthetics is the occurrence of breathing problems due to a congenital or later deformity in the nose. The deformity that causes respiratory problems can be a visible disorder, or it can be a disorder that is not visible from the outside inside the nose. The second reason is that the person is uncomfortable with the appearance of his/her nose and wants to have a different looking nose. The presence of a curvature or dislocation in the bone portion of the nose, deformities observed in the cartilage structure, excessively large nose, asymmetry in the nasal structure are among the reasons requiring nasal aesthetic surgery. Totally personal preferences play a role in aesthetic operations. While some people have a very large or protruding nose, they are quite satisfied with the appearance of the nose, while some people may prefer a different nose image, although they have a normal nose structure. As a result, rhinoplasty operations can be performed because of health problems or personal preferences and are widely applied.

How is it performed?

Nose aesthetic surgery is a type of operation performed mostly under general anesthesia. In simple rhinoplasty operations that require only small touches, local anesthesia can be applied according to the surgeon's preference. While the operation takes an average of 2 hours, a rhinoplasty operation usually takes 1 day with preoperative preparations and post-operative applications and observation times. There are 2 different nasal esthetics techniques that are widely preferred. In open rhinoplasty, the first of these, a small incision is made between the nostrils and this incision increases the angle of view of the surgeon. Generally, open rhinoplasty technique is preferred in people who have advanced nose deformity or who have had a different nose aesthetic operation before. The main advantage of the open technique is that the viewing angle is wider. However, the healing process is longer and problems such as edema and bruising after the operation are larger. In another technique, closed rhinoplasty, the incision is adjusted to remain in the nostrils. The surgeon's field of vision is less, but the recovery time is shorter and there are no suture marks after the operation. The closed rhinoplasty technique is generally preferred for the correction of smaller deformities.

Non-surgical Nose Aesthetics

One of the preferred applications in cases where nose deformity is not very serious is non-surgical nose aesthetics. In this method, also known as nasal filling, a dermal filler is applied to the bridge of the nose. Non-surgical nasal aesthetic applications, which are a very reliable option in the treatment of mild problems such as nose tip, nose contour problem, wrinkled nose appearance and nasal obstruction, are quite simple operations, but the preferred products for filling are completely reliable. In aesthetic applications made with this method, a new appearance to the nose, as well as the birth of the nose or falling with age, the desired image can be obtained.

Advises after the Operation

Post-operative pain usually occurs and therefore, pain relief is applied to the patient without waiting for the effect of anesthesia to pass. Afterwards, medicines recommended by your doctor should be used without interruption. It is not recommended to stand up for a period of 4-6 hours after surgery. The first time you stand up, it is normal to experience dizziness and darkness, so it is recommended that you seek help from a relative. Blood leakage from the nasal area is normal both during and after surgery. This bleeding can be swallowed unintentionally, causing nausea and vomiting. For this reason, bloody vomiting or black stool from the blood the next day may be observed. If there is no nausea 6 hours after the operation, water can be drunk and juicy foods such as soup and buttermilk may be consumed gradually. The first few days are usually recommended to eat with liquid foods. It is normal for swelling and bruises to form under the eyes, around the nose and in certain parts of the face, and will gradually diminish. In order to prevent bleeding, the pillow should be kept high and no water should be drawn into the nose for the first 15 days. It is normal for the nose to remain blocked during this process. It is not recommended to wear glasses for several months (in some cases 6 months) to achieve the exact shape.

How long is the healing period?

Although the healing time of the patients who have undergone nasal aesthetics varies according to the size of the operation, the patients can usually get up and walk around within 4-6 hours, and if there is no nausea and vomiting after 6 hours, they may start to eat. Patients are discharged on the same day in some cases, and sometimes discharged the next day after observation for 1 night. Post-operatively, patients can return to work within a period of 1 week to 10 days if no complications occur. Post-operative swelling and bruises are normal and diminish over time to a level that can be covered with make-up within 1 week-10 days. After one month after the operation, 75-80% of the edema occurs. The targeted shape and full recovery are achieved six month-one year after surgery. During this process, it is normal to see edema problem that occurs in the nose in the morning and disappears later. If you are uncomfortable with the appearance of your nose or you think there is a structural disorder in your nose, you can get detailed information about the process by contacting specialist physicians.
