LIPOSUCTION
Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure also known by the names “lipo”, “lipectomy”, “lipoplasty”, or “liposculpture suction”. This surgery dissolves the fat cells and then pulls them up from the body. The procedure is carried out to suck fat from the thighs, neck, abdomen, chin, buttocks, calves, upper arms, and the back.
Usually, people with a stable weight but undesirable deposits of fat in specific body parts like to undergo the process of liposuction. Liposuction is not a treatment and overall method of weight loss for obese people because stretch marks, dimples, or cellulite cannot be removed with it. HOW THE PROCEDURE IS CARRIED OUT?
Under general anesthesia, the procedure is conducted.The body area from where the fat is to be removed is marked. Medicine to reduce bruising, blood loss, and swelling and anesthesia is administered in this area. Fat cells are broken up using either a weak pulse of the laser, high-frequency vibrations, or a water jet having high pressure.
A small cut is made through which a suction tube is inserted. A hollow cannula is attached to the suction tube that creates a vacuum. Fat cells are loosened up by moving the suction tube and then these are sucked out. Extra blood and remaining fluid are sucked and the treated area is closed and bandaged. The whole procedure takes one to three hours and some people might need to stay overnight in the hospital.
